Spray skirts are designed with a tunnel which fits around your waist and a deck which fits around the cockpit rim (coaming) to create a relatively water tight seal between the interior of your kayak and the outside world. Using a spray skirt not only keeps you drier and more comfortable, it keeps you safer as well. Imagine paddling a kayak with the extra weight of a single gallon of water – 8.34 lbs.
